FELLOW P.O.W. WITH JOHN MCCAIN SPEAKS OUT ON THE MICHAEL KOOLIDGE SHOW

Dekalb, IL – What exactly did John McCain go through in Vietnam?  Over the past three weeks, in a series of exclusive interviews, The Michael Koolidge Show (TMKS) spoke with former Air Force fighter pilot Joe Crecca, a man who spent 6 years and 3 months as a POW in Vietnam.  Mr. Crecca provided a detailed account of his experiences from 1967 through 1973 in what's become known as the "Hanoi Hilton," including his interactions with fellow POW and current U.S. Presidential candidate John McCain.

In this exclusive multi-part series of in-depth discussions with Michael Koolidge, Joe Crecca gives listeners an idea of exactly what it's like to be shot down in combat, captured, tortured and imprisoned for over six years in enemy territory.  He also offers an insight into the character of John McCain, a man who went through very similar experiences.  All segments are now uploaded and available in the Audio Archives section of www.koolidge.com as the first part of TMKS Podcasts #88, #89 and #90.

On the air daily since the Spring of 2006, The Michael Koolidge Show is the first and only daily radio talk show in the nation hosted by a young veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Michael talks every week with an active duty U.S. servicemember in Baghdad, Iraq, and has done so regularly since early September of 2006.  Previous guests on the show include Mitt Romney, Bill Richardson, Dick Durbin, James. L. Buckley, Rudy Giuliani, Clarence Page, Denny Hastert and OK Go.  Earlier this year TMKS became regionally and independently syndicated on 1360 WLBK and News/Talk 1060 WRHL in North Central Illinois and Chicagoland.

DENNY HASTERT ON

THE MICHAEL KOOLIDGE SHOW

Rochelle, IL – Former U.S. Speaker of the House Denny Hastert was on News/Talk 1060’s The Michael Koolidge Show on Tuesday, October 23, 2007.  The audio podcast is now available here.

Some excerpts from the interview:

5:59:  “We don't need...even though we have some differences with [Turkey]...to upset the apple cart, to lose our bases there, and put our men and women who are in the Middle East in jeopardy, and that's exactly what this does.  This is a political issue.  Its a political hot poker in the eye of the Administration..."

7:16:  "We don't need another situation like a Syria or Iran on the border of Iraq..."

7:52:  "I had the Speaker of the Armenian House come to visit me.  We had a long talk about this issue.  This is not a big issue in Armenia.  Its a big issue here, where people keep this thing constantly riled up, whether you happen to be a Greek and don't like the Turks, or you happen to be an Armenian and don't like the Turks.   Its a way that people raise money here."

10:21:  "The Turkish Border is something that we cannot have destabilized.  You know, its an interesting time...when Osama Bin Laden is criticizing Al Qaeda cause they're not getting the job done, it means that WE are getting OUR job done, and if we want to help [Al Qeada], help them emotionally, and give them a lift, destabilize what we [the U.S.] is able to do, then this Turkey resolution does exactly that."

11:05:  "I think Speaker Pelosi expressed very well, that this is an important issue to her, probably politically, and there's another political issue, and that is to hurt the Administration.  So, I don't think she's accepting common sense.  We've back-channeled that (as a former Speaker, giving Pelosi advice NOT to do this), they understand that, they know it very well, her aides know what we've done....she's going to do what she wants to do.  And she has her own agenda.  Just like meeting with the head of Syria and other places, she has an agenda."

12:25:  "What I tried to do...I tried to bring the Turks and Armenians together...and they're doing some of that, and that's good between those two countries.  It's the people back here who want to keep these thing stirred up, and that's the tragedy of it."

He did not indicate whether he will be remaining or resigning as U.S. representative from the IL-14th congressional district.

The Michael Koolidge Show is the first and only daily radio talk show in the nation hosted by a young veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Michael talks every Thursday with an active duty U.S. servicemember serving in Iraq, and has done so every week since early September of 2006.  TMKS also puts out two separate highly popular weekly podcasts, available at www.koolidge.com under “Audio Archives.”

Quote from Michael Koolidge:  “I’m excited.  I know that other radio shows have soldiers on from Iraq, but I don’t think it happens as frequently as it should.  To my knowledge, we are the only daily radio show in the country that will have an extended segment directly from a soldier  in Iraq with his boots on the ground, every single week.  Unless Andrew occasionally calls us from a helicopter, in which case his boots will be in the air.  But he’ll still be in Iraq.”
